Hole-Punch
Instruction Booklet
Whenever you get something that needs assembled, it comes with a booklet of instructions. The challenge for this was to create an instruction booklet for a heavy duty hole-punch. Illustrations would be key to help users easily understand how to assemble the object with visual steps rather than written ones.
Sketches
Accuracy was important for this assignment, so I spent a lot of time sketching the pieces over and over again. The illustrations needed to have enough detail to be clear, but would have to be simplified to be able to translate into linework.
Illustrator
Using the final sketches, I created the final illustrations in Adobe Illustrator to give me clean, consistent lines. I needed the pieces together, apart, in the perspective they would be assembled, and straight-on for the item key.
Ready For Assembly
Now the steps could be set up with simple lines showing placement and a close-up shot to help clearly show how the smallest clips were assembled. This piece isn't all too exciting, but instruction booklets are an important piece to come with any product a client has to assemble.
